This is the face of a woman who has purchased nary a shirt, dress, shoe or earring for nine and a half months. For those of you just tuning in: one of my resolutions for 2017 was to abstain from shopping for one whole year, and two-thirds of the way in I’m still going strong. Well…strong-ish.

Some people like to spend their free time playing video games, Pinterest-planning their (imaginary) dream wedding, backpacking across countries or learning about wine. Me? I like to think about color. I collect different hues in my head: the blue-purple of jacaranda trees that almost seems to glow, the cheery yellow reflected off a canary’s wing, the radiant gradient of Flaming June‘s robe. Color is often the first thing I notice about an object, and I tend to catalogue the colors I see, one by one, in my mind palace until I’m left with an intangible, but no less pleasant filing drawer filled with folders marked ROYGBIV.

A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of showing my little sister around New York City. I bought tickets to Hamilton last summer, and since Genevieve had fallen in love with the musical in the meantime, my mom kindly offered to sponsor a sisters’ trip to the big city. Thanks, Mom!

After taking a few weeks off from posting as part of a self-granted summer vacation, I figured that the best way to get back into it was with a post recounting one of my very favorite seasonal traditions: a trip to the farmers market. But not just any farmers market. The Davis Farmers Market.

Hello, friends! I had grand plans for this post. Over the weekend, I was going to head over the the flagship store to try on and photograph my favorite Anniversary sale items so I could share them with you along with tips about how they fit in real life. But real life had different plans for me. As you may have seen on Instagram, I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery on Saturday, so no trips to Nordstrom for me!
In lieu of the post I had planned, I’ve decided to stick with a classic round-up to showcase some of my favorite pieces that are still stocked online. There’s a lot of good stuff left, and I’m super excited to share all these great pieces that my team and I worked really hard to get onto the site. Let me know what you think, and happy shopping!
