After months of hard work at my 9-to-5, I’m so happy to say that we’re a week into what has shaped up to be an exceptionally good #NSale. Since I write copy for the Nordstrom website, I’ve been scoping out things to add to my Wish List for awhile now, and it was so fun to pop over to a dressing room and finally try some of them on. This time of year, I always get a lot of requests from friends and family to share my picks, so I’ve gathered my own personal highlights below, along with a few tips on sizing.

We all know the tried-and-true crewneck, the elegant bateau neck and the wear-with-everything V-neck, but now it’s time to get acquainted with the square neckline. This of-the-moment silhouette conjures images of pure romance for me: Jane Austen’s girls in rich pastoral settings, crisp aprons layered over flour-sack prairie frocks and a pigtail-braided Brigitte Bardot strolling, carefree, in Italy.
And that’s why it feels just right as we slowly inch toward summer. I’ve been loading up my online shopping cart with sundry styles cut with the wide-slung neckline, so I figured I’d share my e-treasures with you all. Scroll down to shop some of my favorite square-neck styles.
Hello, friends! I had grand plans for this post. Over the weekend, I was going to head over the the flagship store to try on and photograph my favorite Anniversary sale items so I could share them with you along with tips about how they fit in real life. But real life had different plans for me. As you may have seen on Instagram, I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery on Saturday, so no trips to Nordstrom for me!
In lieu of the post I had planned, I’ve decided to stick with a classic round-up to showcase some of my favorite pieces that are still stocked online. There’s a lot of good stuff left, and I’m super excited to share all these great pieces that my team and I worked really hard to get onto the site. Let me know what you think, and happy shopping!
This is not a drill. My very favorite sale is here, and it’s a good one. In case you’re not a serial shopper like I am, I’ll take a quick second to clue you in. As of 12:00 a.m. EST today, hundreds of styles at Zara are on sale, and the best ones are sure to sell out before the day is over.
That’s why I stayed up late (that, and I have to drive my brother to the airport at 4 a.m.) to comb through all the pages of sale items and round up my very favorite 55 things. There are pieces in here that are causing me physical pain not to buy—but don’t worry, my no-shopping mandate is still firmly intact.
I’m channeling all my expert shopping energy into encouraging you, my friends, into buying this perfectly charming wicker basket bag, and this painfully chic striped midi skirt or maybe the ultimate power suit in a striking red stretch cotton. Seriously, this stuff is so good and such a bargain so shop like the wind! And send me pictures of your sale hauls so I can live vicariously through all you carefree consumers, por favor.
First thing’s first. You’ll notice nary a khaki pant in sight. That’s because the freshest way to wear one of this season’s freshest trends is all about using a classic fabrication in an unexpectedly cool way. Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t rock a khaki pant—in fact, this pair, this pair and this pair are all calling my name—I’m just saying that khaki has found a comfortable home as beyond the bounds of school uniform chinos and the Jim Harbaugh aesthetic.
The new khakis are all about intentional silhouettes, softened with a bit of playful detail—a draped ruffle here, a trim of rickrack there. Or, if you’re feeling really brave, a polka-dotted tulle underskirt layered beneath a head-to-toe khaki look a la J.Crew Spring 17. Perhaps you’re only ready to dip your Sand Tropez-clad toes into this trend pond, and in that case might I suggest some folksy seed-beaded earrings, a whispy bandana-inspired scarf or a fresh pair of Nikes? The wonderful thing about khaki is that its beauty is derived from its utilitarian versatility. In other words: it matches with everything.
