“A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.” – Coco Chanel.
Similarly, a woman who parts her hair differently is about to change her day. Now, don’t get me wrong—my signature side part isn’t going anywhere, but sometimes it’s good to mix things up a bit. A low chignon with loose, face-framing wisps made this outfit composed of lots of old favorites feel fresh and compelling again.
Speaking of old favorites, I’ve now made it almost three months without shopping and I’m feeling good. I’ve faced only one or two real temptations, and overall I’ve really just been falling in love with my wardrobe all over again. That’s why you’ll see that virtually everything I’m wearing in this photo is too old to link to—heck, these earrings were a gift in high school and this dress was purchased in college—but I perused the internet to find great approximations in case you want to shop this look.
And shop it you should: the vinyl-inset heels I’m wearing in this post are some of my absolute favorites, and Zara’s second iteration of this style is currently on sale for under $60. Trust me when I tell you that the cost per wear on these heels is guaranteed to be in the pennies, that’s how good they are. The bits of transparent vinyl open up the silhouette, creating a flattering, leg-lengthening line, while the slender ankle strap ensures they never slip off your feet, making them perfect for power walking to afternoon coffee with your coworkers.
