I’ve been feeling blue lately—strictly sartorially speaking, of course. I just can’t seem to get enough of shades of cerulean, sky, robin’s egg, cobalt, indigo and baby blue. Maybe it’s the promise of regular glimpses of clear skies once spring has finally sprung, or maybe it’s a subconscious effort to salve my spirit in these hair-pullingingly frustrating political times by hearkening back to one of last year’s Pantone Colors of the Year, aptly named Serenity.

Whatever the cause, the fact remains that blue has become my favorite color for the past few weeks. I can’t promise the love will last, but for now I’m happy to wake up, wash my hair and reach for the blue section of my wardrobe. Last week, that routine resulted in this pretty little pleated look. I pulled this midi-length silk skirt (and all-time favorite of mine because of the way it moves when I walk) and paired it with a beautifully textured velvet bomber that fairly glows, even in the Seattle gloom. My go-to white tee added a casual element to balance out the silver leather pumps for an office-ready look that was put together without being fussy. Plus, a sweet woman told me my outfit was beautiful as I was reaching for green onions at the grocery store, so I would consider this one a definite win.
