It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Pantone has announced the color of the year for 2014. It appears that it’s time for us all to get very well acquainted with 18-3224, otherwise known as Radiant Orchid. Leatrice Eiseman, Mother of Color, describes Radiant Orchid as, “a captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones,” which sounds pretty good to me. My love for lavender has been pretty well documented, so I’m excited to try on a fresh, new shade of purple for the new year.
Although this is technically a forecast, and we’ll probably start seeing a much wider selection of clothes and accessories in this color next year, I didn’t want to wait until 2014 to try it out. So I rounded up my current favorite goodies in this radiant hue. I love the idea of a purple bralette peeking out from a slouchy sweater or an orchid heel cheerily anchoring a winter outfit. And my list of New Year’s beauty resolutions this year will definitely include “try purple lipstick.”
