Faux fur has been a major theme in my life lately. From trying to cram as much plush goodness as possible on my body without looking like a muppet (there are worse things, eh?) to writing about the fabulous English brand Shrimps at work, I’ve had faux pelage on the brain—quite literally in the case of that cozy trapper hat I tried on the other day.
Despite having a rather undescerning regard for all things that fall in the furry category, to me, the leopard coat is at the top of the heap. And so it happened that I spent much of last year journeying to the ends of the internet for the perfect leopard-print faux fur topper—at the right price, of course. After shopping around, comparing and contrasting, and adding at least seven different coats to my shopping cart, I landed on this one. I’ve found Forever 21 to have surprisingly good faux fur quality (I also own and love this piece and this piece), and this jacket is no exception.
I decided to up the feminine, vintage-inspired vibe of the coat with a Mick Jagger-style skinny scarf, a pale pink silk blouse and some leather-striped leggings for a touch of modern edge. I finished the look with some crystal-and-tortoiseshell sparklers and my new favorite boots (check out those mirrored heels!). For a more casual look, I’ve also been prone to tossing this statement coat over my favorite gray t-shirt and a pair of broken-in jeans on my way out the door.
